What was your fitness background before you started at CFCL and how did you get started with us here?
Growing up I had no fitness background whatsoever, unless you count a failed attempt at freshman lacrosse. (I faked sick to get out of a "fun run in the mud" #onbrand). But after finding myself at a job that was not very rewarding I started to live for my noon group fitness class as Healthworks in the Back Bay and personal training. I quickly realized that I loved working out with other people and having guided instruction. Because I had always considered myself not athletic I was amazed to see what I could do if I just tried. Since my personal trainer did CrossFit and basically trained me in a CrossFit style, I did a quick search and found City Line. My first class was in December the day after the Christmas party. It was a shock in April when I learned we had to run, but there was no getting rid of me by then.
What had been your biggest accomplishment since starting and what are you working on now
It's been over two years but the novelty of being able to do strict pull ups has never worn off. More recently, I'm very proud of my handstand push ups because they're something I never thought I'd be good at. Right now rather than a movement, I'm working on hanging on for longer than I'd like. For me this can mean not putting the bar down, doing one more rep than I want to or scaling so I can keep the intensity high.
The Chief -- I love longer workouts with low reps even though I always lose count. Squats go quickly when you're 5'0.
If you could travel anywhere, where would it be and why?
Bali -- it just looks beautiful and I love to lie around, read and swim.
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
Make all dogs live forever (is that a wish or a superpower?)
What’s the last thing you searched for on Google?
"The Epic Seed" - someone had a really delicious looking greek yogurt with chia seeds in the fridge at work and i needed to know more
