I was making myself breakfast, eggs “fried” in a teaspoon of coconut oil and heating up sweet potato (garnet yams to be precise…so much better tasting then regular sweet potato!) and I caught myself thinking…

“I am so excited for this breakfast.

I wonder if other people are that excited about the food they get to eat. “

Then 2 other thoughts came to mind.

  1. I really like what I eat and
  2. I GET to eat these healthy foods.

I really like my breakfast. I didn’t always like it, but now I honestly love it.

When I was younger I eat cereal (the sugary ones), bagles and maybe once in a while if my family was on a health kick, some oatmeal. So I wasn’t born with “healthy taste buds”.

I also ended up being 275 pounds by the age of 17. That didn’t taste so good.

When I decided I wanted to lose weight, I started to eat different foods. At first I didn’t really love the tastes of chicken, potatoes, vegetables or rice. I even hated steak and fish.

But I kept trying.

I kept cooking and seasoning the food differently.

I learned and found flavor and combinations that tasted great. And I soon became excited to eat these new foods. I liked the tastes. And that’s one of the main reasons it worked for me and I lost 40 pounds in 6 months.

Try and try again to flavor healthy food to ways that you like it.  It may take some trial and error but it’s worth it. When you like what you’re eating you want to eat it more so go and find the flavors and combinations that you like and that are good for you.
