What was your fitness background before you started at CFCL, and what made you decide to try CrossFit?

I was not into fitness for most of my life - I hated any kind of physical activity.  I have struggled with my weight my entire life which prevented me from pursuing any kind of exercise program - I was always insecure and afraid.  When my work changed locations I started driving by CFCL everyday and seeing people running and I thought to myself "I really want to be that person too"  So after a few times calling and hanging up, I finally got up the nerve to go and try the intro class - It was the best decision I could have made

What goals are you working on right now?

so many things I want to do!  I was so sick for the whole month of April and right before I got sick I was working on my running which I thought I was making really good progress.  I was able to run 400m without stopping - a huge accomplishment for me!  I'm also working on getting my first double under - I took the clinic which was awesome - still waiting for my first!  Also my first real push up - I feel like I'm getting closer and closer to it.  I never thought I would ever be excited about doing a push up - its amazing how much I have changed on this inside since joining CFCL

What's your favorite movement and why?

deadlifts, kettle bell carry, rowing machine - I feel most confident doing these!

If you could rid the world of one thing, what would it be and why?

No question about this - Cancer has taken the lives of my mom and dad, they both passed away within 6 months of each other - completely devastating.  Then my husband was diagnosed with kidney cancer which was the scariest thing my family has experienced - fortunately he is a 10 year survivor!

You have to wear a t-shirt with one word on it for a year. What would that word be and why?

maybe not a word but a number 53 - because I'm proud to say that at 53 years old I'm in better shape both physically and mentally than I have been in my entire life - and I have CFCL to thank for all of it.  Every coach has been an amazing teacher, mentor, friend and supporter.  Every member that I get to workout with are incredible athletes and so inspiring to me.  They all make me want to be a better athlete.  I feel so blessed to have found this wonderful place called Crossfit Cityline.  It took me 53 years to finally be what I always felt on the inside

If you were to perform in the circus, what would you do?

maybe a clown - so I could drive in those little tiny cars!
